Our History
Two Minnesota travel agencies with rich experience – Schilling and Riverdale – merged in 2018 to form the robust travel company we operate today!
The company started as Schilling Travel Service in 1924, founded by Wilbur Schilling, a professor from Duluth who had run student trips for years and finally decided to move from teaching and open up a storefront in Minneapolis. Wilbur handed the business to his son, Bill Schilling, who later sold it to Fannie Shapiro. She then sold it to a group of women who ran it for a few years and then sold it to Linda Logman, who ran it for 25 years before selling it to Robert Herman in 2012.
In 1986, Riverdale Travel was started by Carol and Sandy Anderson in its first Coon Rapids location. Although the name was different (Star Travel), their mission to provide valuable travel experiences to the community remains the same. As the business grew, Carol and Sandy added an experienced staff of travel professionals and moved to the current Riverdale location. In 2018, Riverdale Travel was purchased by Robert Herman, Amy Ferreira, and Jose Ferreira.
Since then, Riverdale Travel has merged with Liahona Travel and All Sights Travel, expanding our network of vendors, advisors, and resources!
And to offer specialized knowledge, Riverdale Travel has developed two specialty divisions:
